Property systems to understand
- Water source, shutoff location, leak response, and freeze precautions
- Septic or other wastewater system records and maintenance
- Electric service, backup needs, outage planning, and safe shutdowns
- Propane ownership or lease terms, delivery access, and monitoring
- Heating, roof, drainage, trees, and seasonal maintenance
- Internet and cellular availability at the exact address
- Trash, snow, road, and access arrangements
- Manufactured-home or seasonal-structure requirements, where applicable
Wildfire and insurance
Wildfire precautions, property condition, access, construction, vacancy, and seasonal occupancy can affect risk and insurance availability. Ask the appropriate fire authority or qualified provider about property precautions, and obtain property-specific insurance information directly from a licensed insurer or agent before relying on coverage assumptions.
When the property is unoccupied
Decide who can respond to alarms, leaks, weather damage, access problems, service appointments, or other time-sensitive issues. Confirm what your insurance policy, association, utilities, and service providers require. Do not share keys, codes, or access instructions through a public directory form.
